This is my new summer obsession — a bright, glowy sardine ceviche that comes together in one bowl and tastes like sunshine. Sweet mango, creamy avocado, juicy tomatoes, and a big squeeze of lime turn humble canned sardines into something you'll crave all season.
It gives you that summer glow from the inside out: omega-3 healthy fats from the sardines and avocado, a hit of vitamin C from the mango and lime, and a complete Core Four in every bite. It's exactly the kind of balanced, real-food meal we love inside Revel in Clarity. And the best part? Even people who swear they don't like sardines fall for this one.

Why You'll Love This

Omega-3 healthy fats from sardines + avocado, and vitamin C from mango + lime — your summer glow, handled.
No cook, about 15 minutes, one bowl.
A crowd-pleaser — even sardine skeptics love it.

Ingredients
1 (4.4 oz) can Wild Planet wild sardines in extra-virgin olive oil, drained
1 ripe mango, diced
1 avocado, diced
½ cup cherry tomatoes, halved
¼ red onion, finely chopped
¼ cup fresh cilantro, chopped
Juice of 2 limes
Sea salt and black pepper, to taste
1 cucumber, sliced, for dipping
How to Make It
Prep the sardines: Drain the sardines and gently break them into bite-sized pieces.
Combine: In a large bowl, combine the sardines, mango, cherry tomatoes, red onion, and cilantro.
Dress and toss: Add the avocado, squeeze over the lime juice, and season with sea salt and pepper. Toss gently to keep the avocado intact.
Let it meld and serve: Let it sit 5–10 minutes for the flavors to come together, then serve with sliced cucumber for scooping.
Pro tip: for serving, squeeze a little extra lime over the cucumber slices and sprinkle them with sea salt — it makes the brightest, crunchiest scoop.
Tips, Swaps & Make-Ahead
Best fresh: Enjoy within a few hours — the avocado and lime are happiest right away. To prep ahead, make everything except the avocado, then fold it in just before serving.
Add heat: A little diced jalapeño or a pinch of chili flakes is lovely if you like a kick.
Serve it up: Scoop with cucumber, pile into lettuce cups, spoon over greens, or serve with plantain chips.
Sardine skeptic? The lime, mango, and avocado mellow and brighten everything — this is the recipe that converts people.

FAQ
I don't like sardines — will I like this?
Most likely, yes! The lime, mango, and avocado mellow and brighten the sardines, so they taste fresh and summery rather than fishy. It's the recipe that wins skeptics over.
What sardines should I use?
Wild Planet wild sardines in extra-virgin olive oil are my go-to — clean, sustainably caught, and the olive oil adds flavor you'll use in the dressing.
Is this Whole30 or paleo friendly?
Yes — it's made entirely from whole foods and is naturally grain-free and legume-free, so it works for both (mango is fruit, which both allow).
How far ahead can I make it?
It's best within a few hours. Make everything except the avocado ahead, and fold the avocado in right before serving so it stays fresh and green.
